Corona, CA – More than 120 business professionals gathered at TeamCalifornia’s 10th Annual Meet the Consultants (MTC) Forum, hosted by Tulare County from August 6-8, 2024. The event, held at the Visalia Marriott, brought together site selectors, economic development practitioners, and local leaders to explore not only the region’s potential but to foster collaboration across California.
Spotlighting Tulare County’s Growth Potential
The forum provided the opportunity to highlight Tulare County’s unique position as one of California’s fastest-growing regions. “This year, we had a chance to experience what the hype is all about regarding one of the state’s fastest-growing regions,” said Robin Reimold, President and CEO of TeamCalifornia. “The County’s eight cities collaborate effortlessly on regional projects, proving that working together accomplishes much more.”
The event featured 13 dynamic speakers from across the nation, covering key topics such as site selection, retail and commercial investments, energy projects, food and beverage, retail, the California economy, and strategic storytelling. Notable local presenters included Derek Kirk and Poonum Patel from the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, along with Adam Peck, Executive Director of the Tulare County Workforce Investment Board, all of whom emphasized the state’s strong labor force and focus on job creation throughout California.
Local and Statewide Collaboration
Localized success of the forum was made possible through the collaboration of Tulare County’s cities and local businesses. “Dealmaking begins with relationships,” said Michael Washam, Associate Director of the County of Tulare Resource Management Agency. “When local leaders connect with each other and site selectors, that is when growth happens.”
Alida Verduzco Silva, Economic Development Manager for Tulare County, noted that the event showcased not only the business opportunities within Tulare County but also the collaborative spirit that drives economic growth throughout the state. Robin Reimold agreed, stating, “While Tulare County was the focal point, our members also learned the importance of controlling their own narrative, and collaborating to tell the real facts about California as a whole. This event demonstrated that no matter the size of your region or community, the entire state is a prime destination for business and investment, and it’s up to us to tell the story.”
The forum’s impact extended beyond Tulare County, thanks to the contributions of over 16 statewide sponsors.
Showcasing Regional Opportunities
To highlight Tulare County’s nearly 5,000 square miles of industrial potential, county staff organized tours, including a Sequoia Day Trip and personalized site visits. “While the forum was held in Visalia, we creatively showcased various areas to our visiting site selectors,” said Washam.
Eagle Mountain Casino sponsored a dinner where key sites in southern Tulare County were presented, while tours along the Sequoia Day Trip route emphasized development opportunities to the north. The event underscored Tulare County’s commitment to job creation and strategic growth.
Looking Ahead
TeamCalifornia will host our 11th Annual Meet the Consultants Forum in Contra Costa County next year. We extend our thanks to all participants, sponsors, and partners who contributed to the success of the 10th Annual Meet the Consultants Forum. We look forward to continuing our mission to drive business investment and growth across California.
