California Pioneers in Clean Energy
California leads the nation in clean technology innovation. This is implemented in green buildings, clean transportation, clean technology research, and carbon management.
California is also leading the way with zero emission vehicle (ZEV) initiatives. This includes plug-in hybrid, electric, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Tesla, based in Palo Alto, California, is making groundbreaking advancements with electric-powered cars. With their help, California has become both a national and global leader in plug-in car manufacturing.
“California has taken groundbreaking steps to increase the efficiency of our cars, buildings and appliances and provide even more renewable energy.”
Jerry Brown
Governor of California

California, the Place To Be
California’s solar electricity generating capacity is nearly half of the entire nation’s capacity, leading the next highest state, Arizona, by nearly 8,000 megawatts—a 40% lead. SB 350, a bill signed into law by Governor Brown in October 2015, requires that all utility companies source half of their electricity from renewable sources (solar, wind, or hydro) by the year 2030. Already, California has enough solar capacity to power nearly four million homes.
When it’s created in California, it’s developed with the most advanced technological processes and materials possible. With that, California continues to hold its status in the nation as a clean energy pioneer. It’s the place to be when it comes to clean energy. And that makes it the perfect place for companies interested in advancing in the industry.
