Marco's Pizza is going big in California.
The Toledo, Ohio, chain has signed a master franchisor deal with Anil Yadav to open 170 Marco's Pizza locations throughout the state. Yadav is one of four buyers of 66 Jack in the Box restaurants in Central and Northern California previously owned and operated by developer and restaurateur Abe Alizadeh.
In particular, Yadav has identified Sacramento and Stockton as possible targets, along with the East Bay, Fremont, Monterey, San Jose, Santa Rosa, Fresno, Bakersfield, Eureka, San Luis Obispo and Simi Valley, among others.
Yadav, who lives in Sunol, is Jack in the Box's largest franchisee, with 155 restaurants; he also owns 26 Denny's restaurants.
Yadav expects new Marco's Pizza locations to be open by the end of the year. Two are already open: one in Livermore and one in Ceres.
Marco's operates more than 200 stores in 17 states and the Bahamas, and it has more than 1,000 stores in development.
